I know this is a hard one to think about or even harder to think about how to replace all the numbers that are on the phone and how you would replace them. I currently dropped my cell phone and broke the back camera. Taking pictures with the front camera is a struggle and then having some of the apps not work due to the strain that they use the back camera only. While growing up I did not have a cell phone till I was out of college. Most of my phones were just cell phones where I could only send text and receive calls. While reading an article by Times Magazine that showed how Americans use the cell phone in 2015. I think the numbers would be higher in the communication section than direction section now of days. What does the Bible say about distractions?
Distraction in the Bible……….
In Philippians 4:8 He mentions how we are to look for things that are peaceful. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. I know you think how can this verse lines up with distraction. If we are not focused on his word then how are we looking for these things mentioned in the verse? Would playing a Candy Crush praise the Lord or does it distract us from his will and derail us from his plan? In Joshua 1:8 He tells us to how to meditate on his word daily. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. If we are so focused on the cell phone every day and hour how is this meditating on his will for your life? He has bigger plans and wants you to toil on toward them. If you were not on your cell phone I wonder how productive you would be?
In John 10:10 God talks about how the evil one come steals our joy by distracting us. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. If you knew that you could have joy and have peace focusing on him would you do it? I sure would and do it more often. That is what God wants us to do is focus on him and only him.
While you are going through today focus on Him and try to see if you can put down the cell phone and not check Facebook or check your email every hour. I know this is a big challenge and I am going to be working on doing the same.Thank for the continued prayers and thoughts for me and Jennifer. We are counting down the days till are under the same roof. She is doing well with dialysis and getting more strength back.
