Yes, I can rock the dance floor! Last night I had a wonderful night with Jennifer’s family celebrating Jennifer’s mom’s birthday. As I was there, I was very blessed to feel the love of the family has for each other and toward me. I know I will not have to worry about feeling the love from this family. When I was looking for a woman to call my wife I am very keen for how she interacted with her family and the family with her. What does the Bible say about family?
What does the Bible say about family?
In the Bible, it breaks down family into multiple sections of the family. In Exodus 20:12 tells us to “Honor your father and your other, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” To me, this verse is true to what it said. Today I find that children have a hard time with this because there is no honor. This is a word that’s not done very well now of days.
The Bible also has a lot to say about husbands and wives to each other and toward their kids. In Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Men of the world need to love God first then show that same love toward their wife.
The Bible tells the wife to submit to their husband in Colossians 3:18 “Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.” Now of days this word is taken out of context because some women feel that it make the man superior over them. God wants the woman to be second in the lineup of the family. First being Him then the man the woman and then the children. Our American way has confused this a lot of times due to non-Christian beliefs.
The Bible tells children in Ephesians 6:1-4 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” I love how after the first sentence it goes right in and tells children that this is the first commandment with a promise. I also love how He also tells the Father to not to abuse the power of being the head of the household and not to anger, but to disciple them and instruct them in the Lord. I feel like in today’s world we are missing this a lot. What is your thought about what the Bible says about relationships?
As you are getting ready for the week tell your loved ones how much you love them and respect their role that they play in the family. Take time to pray with each other and that our country finds the true God and how to follow Him.
Thank you again for all the encouragement and love I am finding as I write. I was stopped during church today was told how much it means to follow me on my journey and see where God is taking me. Like I said in the first section on how blessed I am to have Jennifer in my life. This week is going to challenge both of us, but know God has already gone before us. Below are two past blogs that will encourage you through the week.
Have a great week,
