Welcome to summertime fun! It is time to break out the swimsuit and hit the beaches. Growing up near the beach everytime I mentioned where I lived they all think that we were at the beach every day. Yes, it was nice to go every so often or you get the chigger bites and sunburns every time I thought of the going to the beach. Nothing has beaches like Florida with the white sand. What are some of your memories of the summertime beach gatherings? God wants us to have fun but also never forget him.
What does the Bible say about having fun?
In Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 it tells us to enjoy things of life as we do his will.
“24 There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, 25 for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment?26 For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.”
Also in Ecclesiastes 3:4 It tells us that there is a time for everything. If you read the whole verse it tells how the season change and how we feel is not a bad thing. As it mentions there is even a time to dance.
“A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”
I love how everything matches up in God time as you wait on His commandments. There a time for his love to show you what He wants from you. And when he puts a smile on your face do an Irish jig to celebrate. The last one to me is the most important verse to keep near to the heart. The verse is found in Philippians 4:4 putting it as clear as a night sky with the star being bright.
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.”
Go through today Rejoicing and know God way is not always boring and he wants us to have fun at times. When the kids are laughing and haveing fun this summer that is the joy of Christ in them. I miss seeing kids on playgrounds enjoying the swings and slides. Those were the days. Enjoy the time off and know that God is with you. If you do not have the funds to take a trip do a daycation where you go to a park or zoo and enjoy the time with the family.
