Happy Memorial weekend. I pray that you will enjoy the time off and have fun. While we are having fun let us not forget the people who gave us freedom to be able to do the things we love. Every time I see a person in uniform I thank them for their service. I know I personally can don’t do what they do. Since I live in a city that is deep in history you will see more people in uniform than most places. We even have a special parade for the wonderful group. You know that God calls us warriors for his kingdom.
What does the Bible say about warriors?
When I think of being a warrior the first verse that comes to mind is Ephesians 6:10-18 “10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.” That is a lot of equipment we have to wear daily.
That is a lot of equipment we have to wear daily. The biggest part is the sword being the truth of the Bible and prayer. I love the fact that God can provide all this to us and everything else. In Revelation 2:26 It tells us “The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations.” As we go through our life keep God first in all you do. Never forget who we are fighting aginst it not ourselves but the evil one. The one that loves to take the joy out of life.
Again as you go through this weekend let us not forget the people that got us where we are today. Do not fight the enemy with the words but with prayer and spiritual guidance. I am praying that you have a blessed day.
